Frequently Asked Questions (Windows 10 & Office End of Support)

When does Microsoft end support for Windows 10 and Office 2021?

Support ended on October 14, 2025 for Windows 10. Support for Office 2021 will end October 13, 2026. After this date, Microsoft will no longer release security updates for these products.

What does “end of support” mean for me?

It means your computer and data will become more vulnerable because Microsoft will not provide patches for newly discovered security issues.

What should I do if I’m using Windows 10?

In most cases, a computer replacement is advised. Buy a system that comes pre-installed with Windows 11.

What should I do if I’m using Office 2021 (or an earlier version)?

You should upgrade to a supported version:

  • Office 2024 (security updates available during its lifecycle ending October 9, 2029)
  • Microsoft 365 subscription (always kept up to date as long as you’re subscribed)
